Challenges facing  youths who will create the future of a country are threatening the future of the country, said vice Preseident Dr Sai Mauk Kham at a ceremony to mark the World Population Day held at the Royal Kumudra Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. To help overcome the challenges, “Invest in young  people” was chosen  as this year’s theme of the world population day, the vice president added.In addition, the vice president pointed out that as almost 30 percent of the population of Myanmar is Youths, helping overcome their challenges is a sound investment for the future.Myanmar signed the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990 and must invest in their right to live, to grow, to be protected and to participate in the society.In Conclusion, the vice president urged all to cooperate with the government for providing safe and secure lives: knowledge, skills and jobs opportunities for children.The ceremony was attended by union minister, representatives of UN agencies, departmental officials and officials from social organizations.After the speech of the vice president, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund Ms. Janet Jackson explained the tasks of the funds.
